How it works

  1. Pick what you feel like doing and how long you are open for.
  2. See who is open nearby. Your exact location is never shown, only a distance band and a station-level area.
  3. Wave at someone 👋 If they accept, talk briefly and meet.

Frequently asked

What is SOLOHOOD?

An iPhone and Android app that connects people who work alone with someone nearby, right now, for coffee, coworking, a meal, a walk, a brainstorm or a chat. It is built around an expiring status rather than a profile: you say what you feel like doing and until when, and only people who are also open during that window see you.

Is this a dating app?

No. It is for the daytime company of people who work alone. There is no feed, no follower graph, no swiping and no profile search.

Is my location shown to other people?

No. One location fix is taken when you check in. Others only ever see a rounded distance band, such as “within 500m”, and a station-level area name. Exact coordinates are never shown to anyone and are deleted within 7 days of a check-in ending. There is no background location tracking.

How does a meeting actually happen?

Choose what you feel like doing and how long you are open for. People nearby who are also open appear in a list. Wave at someone, and a conversation opens only if they accept. Nothing is shared before that. In the chat the app suggests a cafe near the midpoint between you.

Do I need to speak Korean?

No. The app is fully available in English and switches automatically to your phone's language. Most people you meet in Seoul will speak Korean, so say hello in the chat first and agree on a language before meeting.

Where does it work?

Anywhere. Right now most people are in Seoul (Gangnam, Seongsu, Hongdae), Pangyo and Busan, and the busiest window is Open Hours, Tue & Thu 12–2pm KST. Open up in your own neighbourhood and the app will tell you when someone nearby does too.

What does it cost?

Nothing. There are no paid features and no ads.

Who uses it?

Solopreneurs, one-person founders, freelancers, indie developers, writers and remote workers. You must be 18 or older.
